Male orgasm delay with paxil

Posted by trex on March 15, 2003, at 17:57:11

Any suggestions for a male on paxil who has problems reaching orgasm? erection not a problem. Have just started adding Buspar. Should this help? Any other ideas? am starting to try a 2 day "holiday" from the paxil too. Never realized that reaching orgasm for the male is also important for the female satisfaction. Thanks for any ideas.

a holiday from paxil wil not help as it has a 24 hr half life so on day 2 you will still have quite a bit left. It is also not a good idea to start and stop AD's.

I don't like Paxil. It seems to be worse than other drugs of its same class about causing sexual side effects. I certainly couldn't orgasm normally during the time I was on it at 20 mg/day. I took 10 mg/day for six months, which didn't cause sexual side effects, but didn't help with my anxiety and depression. For me I like Celexa much better--I can take an average dose and not have any sexual side effects, and it works well on my anxiety and depression. You could give Lexapro a try--it is a new version of Celexa.

Of all the antidepressants I tried, Paxil had the fewest side effects. No weight gain & no impotence. Delayed orgasm, but I (& my wife) can live with that.
