I have been on EffexorXR for just over a year. I am taking 150mg every morning. I do not seem to have the same side effects as I have been reading about. For me, it really upsets my stomach. I tried Nexium with no luck, and Gas-X (over the counter) is the only thing that seems to calm my stomach down so that I don't get gas so bad that my heart skips a beat. Does anyone else experience this skipping in heart beat?
Also, has anyone found a good replacement for Effexor? I really like Klonopin, but I use that now when the Effexor doesn't do the whole job.

Could answer your question if you answer two of mine.
What are you taking Effexor for?
(if for GAD, tell me whether there is also depression)What else have tried prior to Effexor?

> (if for GAD, tell me whether there is also depression)I wish I could tell you. If I have depression, it is relatively mild. I think it is more GAD. I am going to switch doctors. I have learned more from the internet than I ever did from my doctor. He offered me Paxil like you'd offer someone a soda. I know people on Paxil, and they say they cannot come off of it.
I tried just two Klonopins a day.
Then I tried Buspar, and it made my whole stomach sour. I was on that for about two months. I really feel like my stress level has mellowed, but I still have problems with the stomach gas and the heart skipping like I described before. Also, the way people talk about Effexor on this website make me a little afraid to keep taking it. It looks like I may have a long road getting off of it after being on it more than a year.
I would appreciate the help.
This is the end of the thread.
