ok since i have been on a combo of ritalin and prozac and STILL depressed PLUS craving carbs and gaining weight, sweating and sleeping most of the day away my pdoc finally switched me to lexapro.
i think i might look for another pdoc tho because i was sitting in his office trying to argue with him as to whether or not i felt ok - he kept trying to compare me to 'studies' or 'psychiatric findings/statistics' and i was extremely upset.
when i asked him if the lexapro would be as successful with the irritability and rage as prozac had been he replied "well since you are the only one who doesnt respond to the norm of medications, then i have no idea what to tell you. we just have to wait and see".
is it just me or was that very jerk sounding? does anyone have any information on lexapro? ive done some basic web searching but it all sounds so textbook-ish.
thanks

***Please don't ever lose hope :) We all have a purpose for being here and believe it or not there are others depending upon us. You will get better. It is disappointing that the medical profession hasn't devised a test to determine from day one which med. would be best for our individual chemistry. Until then we will just have to continue supporting and encouraging each other as we do the trial and error thing.
Like yourself the first time I took Lexapro I had a boost of energy, which was very welcomed. Then an increased appetite, which at that time was also welcomed, but not anymore. I'm one of those individuals who have experienced an increased appetite, especially for carbohydrates, and weight gain. I know that it is the Lexapro, because I began craving foods that I haven't eaten in a long time and I never had a desire to eat them before taking the Lexapro. Like all the other side effects I'm sure that this one will also subside in time. Hopefully, while I'm still able to fit my clothes LOL.
