how much time to kick in my Klono??

Posted by Tepiaca on March 6, 2003, at 17:17:54

When I first took Clonazepam .5mg the first day
I felt very well , without too much fear. Then the second day the fear returned.I increased my dose to 1.5 /day and the fear dissapeared , today on my second day with 1.5mg my fear is back again
Why only when I increase my dose I feel a change.
My doctor say Its a placebo effect , and I say of course its not . I think there is something wrong in my brain. Anyway , Im going to stay on 1.5mg during the next week hoping this horrible fear to go away(surely this aint gonna happen , always happen the same to me,im tired,I cantlive like this anymore ,suicide come into my mind)
Why I feel the effect only when I increase the dose , and the next day , my anxiety returns?
is it suposse that the klono work inmediately ,or may take weeks to see improvement?
Please Help me
Any experience ,comments , thougths

Hey... first off... I would almost never recommend that you use Clonazepam as your first line of defense against any anxiety disorder. For a little over 2 years I have been using Clonazepam at 1mg per night and it has helped me incredibly... BUT, in your situation I would get onto either an anti-depressant, anti-psychotic, or mood stabilizer before you start relying on Clonazepam solely to take away this fear that you speak of.

If you have to keep increasing your dose to get the same effect... that's where others on the board speak about the "dependence" kicking in.

As for how long it takes for Clonazepam to kick in to it's full effect... that's usually about 30-45 minutes.

Hi Tepiaca:-)
What does your doc say?
IBTD with Mikey (sorry friend) IMO-because Klonopin is prescribed for just this-PANIC DISORDERS. From the many experience posts I have read-it also helps with depression and sleep. I take 2mg of Klonopin at night and it works great along with my other meds.
I DO agree with Mikey though, on the possible tolerance and dependence of Klonopin that SO MANY are concerned about-even me. But, if it helps, talk to your doc, and be patient. I am here for ya!
How long have you been on Klonopin? At what dose?
Please reply:-)

I hope you can understand me well enough but DO NOT GIVE UP!!

It's way too early to give up--I suggest you DEMAND that your Pdoc prescribe Nardil. If he refuses, get a new pdoc. I am not sure how it works in Mexico. If you have to, get on the internet and order Nardil, there are sites that you can do it from. From other people on the board whose symptoms are similar to yours, It seems like this is a drug that could have DRAMATIC results for you. Talk to Ace, Cosis, and Djmmm who all seem to have suffered from similar symptoms. Why give in now when you have not even tried Nardil which is supposed to be great???
