Hi all:-)
Just wanted to see if anyone has ever taken Accutane. Back in 1992-I had (what I thought was bad) acne-my boyfriend at the time begged to differ as well as my friends. But, my dermo put me on several different antibiotics, did cultures on my "pimples", and finally put me on Accutane. My face is clear now, but I read about a Senator's son who committed suicide and with a history of a very happy young man. There were other factors I guess, but my point I am trying to make is that AFTER I discontinued a partial dose/trial of Accutane, the side effects were horrendous (headaches, chapped, split lips etc..was when I FIRST got really down. I mean really, really depressed.
Does anyone think Accutane has after effects or have you heard any information about what I speak of here?
Thanks, Kristen

Hi KristenI took Accutane when I was 17.. I did't have really bad acne but it was persistent along with oilY skin... It did clear up both but my mom told me I acted depressed... I really didn't notice at the time.. I know the side effects are terrible but I would have done it again... Zits are so much worse in my opinion...

I took it when I was 15 for real bad acne. If anything it made me a much happier person because it destroyed my acne. Definitely did not cause me depression then but, who knows, maybe that is the cause of all my problems now . . . doubt it.

No, I didn't mean, by any means, to add stress to anyone's situation. Accutane helped me too, because it DID clear up my acne. I don't want anyone to think I put this out here to scare anyone, just making a point.
Sorry if I hit a sore spot with anyone.

Didn't hit a sore spot with me. . . . I really wish I could just blame my problems on acutane, wouldn't that be great? Just to have a simple answer. . . .

> Thanks, KristenI took accutane. It made me ache all over and I felt like a snake shedding its skin, but it didn't make me any more depressed.
I'm glad I took it. My skin gradually regained its oily sheen, but the acne is not nearly as bad.

Hi Krissy,
I took it at about the same time as you for a full course. The only problems I had were dryness and very chapped lips during the treatment. Nothing afterwards, except I never had acne again.
