MAOI + Zyprexa/Risperidone - anyone this combo?

Posted by ace on February 18, 2003, at 22:13:03

Has anyone tried adding zyprexa or risperidone to an MAOI. Did they/it heighten the MAOI effect whilst bringing on it's own/their (the antipsychotic) own effects? Specifically, what were the s/effects? How did it make you feel?
Just interested...

Ace.
Nardil, 90mg.

I have added Risperdal and Zyprexa to Parnate 60mg, and Zyprexa to Nardil 90mg.

I found both to produce some antidepressant effects. For me, Zyprexa was superior. Both possess potent antipsychotic properties that I see as very effective for mania and psychotic depression. The relief I gleaned from Nardil + Zyprexa was significant, but inadequate. I think it is very much worth exploring.

Good luck!

Don't waste your time at 2.5mg Zyprexa. I think 5.0mg is a good initial target dosage. The side-effects are not dosage-dependent. If there is a psychotic or delusional component, you might do better at 10mg.
