Although I had NO tremor on Effexor, and only very mild tremor on Wellbutrin (barely noticeable), the combo gave me SEVERE tremor -- I couldn't hold a glass of water without spilling it! The WB didn't help with Effexor side effects either. I don't the WB ever did much for me -- ah well. Maybe you'll have better luck. I was on 150 mg of Effexor and 150 mg WB. Lowering dose of either didn't help much with the tremor.

My dx is "double depression" (dysthmia overlaid w. major DD); it's TR and lifelong. I'm on Effexor XR 225mg qAM and Wellbutrin SR 150 mg 2/day (qAM, then second dose 6 hrs later). Of all the permutations and combinations I've tried over the last 3 1/2 yrs, this combo works 2nd best for me. (Geodon produced "Normal" for me, but was acc. by severe EPS.)

Notes on E+W (for me):
--This combo makes basic functioning possible, but anhedonia is still a problem, as is motivation. A little daytime sleepiness remains. Not in the same ballpark as Geodon, but appears to be the best of the rest.
--Had to decrease E. from 375 mg. to 225 mg. and d/c Ritalin when W. was added to E. in order to reduce jaw tension and tremors to tolerable level. I'm in the group at highest risk for EPS, tho.
--Continuing side effects (from combo, *not* individual meds) include moderate jaw tension and mild/moderate hand tremors--both worse after 2nd dose W. each day. Insomnia is intractable; sleep *requires* 15 mg Ambien/night. I've also had moderate hair loss, but no weight gain.

For me, some other meds and/or med combos may have had fewer side effects but also produced inadequate results.

Hope this helps---medlib

Have you ever tried an MAOI? If so, how does this combo compare?
