Has anyone heard of or actually used amantadine to combat weight gain from taking Zyprexa or other antipsychotic meds?

Yes!

But not me.

There are two people with whom I correspond that have reported success with this strategy. It seems to be a common practice in Sweden. A friend of mine on the US side of the Pond has been on Zyprexa at least three times. Each time, she gained an unacceptable amount of weight. She recently restarted Zyprexa, but this time added amantadine specifically as a remedy for weight-gain. After several months, she has not gained a pound. The next time I find myself wanting to take Zyprexa, I will definitely be taking amantadine along with it.
