Which mood stabilizer (besides lithium) causes the least emotional blunting and "zombie" feeling?
Thanks.

As for what you asked, Neurontin...it does nothing so it will be like you are on none...you will soon be manic and non-zombie like. Trust me!!
Seriously. Depakote made me feel as though in a trance very often. My affect was blunted and my thinking even seemed to "slowed" by having to search for common words or fom self with new concepts.
I have heard some good things about toprimax and triliptal ( used often when there are also prominent anxiety) and lamiclal ( used a bit more for those who present depressed or "mixed" often) I have been on it for about 6 months and feel terrific when it comes to a stab. of mood and have found no real side effects, but am still a neurotic at heart...good luck ~tony
oh, and the last three meds usually do not require blood work like depacote and lithium.

Lamictal didn't blunt me emotionally....I found that
topamax does.

Perhaps Lamictal would be worth a try. I think I might have a tendency for a mixed bipolar state.
