Had the pharmacist call round today to replace all my Neurontin...even my xtra supply.
I asked why..they seemed vague-said something in it.
What ?
Is it just precaution..what have I been taking.
I also have no xtra supply now:(
?

HMMMMMM...Pfizer makes Neurontin...Im not surprised...Warner Lambert is the parent company of Pfizer and Parke-Davis, they recalled Nardil a few months back...now Neurontin...I dont know what their problem is, but I do know they have an EXTENSIVE history of recalling meds and non-compliance to manufacturing standards.

This sounds rather like a clever way to draw attention to the medication for marketing purposes, instead of a clear-cut problem with the med itself. That just happened to be what I thought about the "lack of Nardil" situation I read about here previously. If there was nothing *really* wrong with the medication, but if there was a "pseudo-issue" that might crop up that generates a lot of "chatter" about it, then it could serve to help market the drug because it would "reintroduce" to anyone who is searching about it (on the net), all of the possible uses of it, and it would make the manufacturer seem more credible and interested in public safety (another selling item).

I hear the Neurontin Elves have been disguising themselves as pharmacists and going door to door, swapping out unsuspecting folks' meds for pixie dust. Just open up those capsules and look for sparkles.
I'm so helpful.

Thanks, that was certainly an eye-opener. Imagine what you might be getting if there wasn't any kind of enforcement at all. It sounds like the quality issues are being skimped (or failing to be solved) to shore up the bottom line. It would be kind of interesting to know about the pharm. companies that have the *least* amount of quality problems and the least writeups for marketing no-no's.

=============================================Systematic enforcement is practically nil. Quality control in pharmaceutical manufacturing takes place almost entirely on the honor system, with on-site FDA inspections and checks taking place once every few years unless a problem is reported. (Your local gas pump undergoes government inspection more frequently than pharmaceutical manufacturing lines.)
No doubt most companies and facilities try to act in good faith, but there's a lot of mediocrity in the world, not to mention incompetence, and companies aren't going to be quick to report their own failures if they think the effects can go unnoticed.By the way, even when there are plant inspections, there is an allowable 20 - 25% varience *either way* in potency (you guess which way the potency would probably lean). That, it seems, would be critical when regulating and titrating doses of the medication I take, bzds.
