Hi
Although Nardil is great I still sometimes feel the physical symptons of my social anxiety in big causing anxiety situations. Example: heat beating fast, some sweating... Has anyone tried Inderal had had success with it for these situations? My doc prescribed it to try.

Blimey yes this stuff is marvellous for sweating, rapid or loud hearbeat etc, it does absolutey nothing for fear/psychic anxiety, I used to take the 80mg capsule and it was also the ONLY thing that got rid of my headaches. Few side effects for me, a little slowing for the first week or so but soon I could ride miles on my bike with no problems!
As I say great for somatic anxiety , useless for psychic.
Hope this helps.

I am currently taking inderal to block adrenial gland I have anxiety too. not really sure if it works very good cause I am also on effexor and celexa for generalized anxiety but if you are sweating whan you get nervous then i would try it.anything to stop the anxiety!!!!I dont think it would hurt but be carefull it can lower your blood pressure really low and that could create problems. Good luck E-Mail me and let me know if it works chefdog35@yahoo.com

Hi there,
I used propranolol (Inderal) for some time with limited success... upon trying to raise the dose, I became very lethargic, dysthymic, and generally 'blah'. I'd highly recommend you try Corgard (nadolol), another beta-blocker that's great for anxiety/irritability yet doesn't seem to have these horrible side effects at higher doses.
Cheers!,
Michael

I remember when I was trying Inderal it wouldn't do anything except for one time when I literally kept popping them out of nervousness. I think I did like 120mg or more. I got very talkative and happy for some reason. Very talkative, including to the complete strangers I was taking my SATs with. For some reason I never repeated this.

Just remember beta-blockers can't be taken by someone with asthma (or hay-fever too), even if you only have it slightly. Beta 2 stimulation opens up the airways making it easier to breathe but beta-blockers constrict them. Even non-asthmatic people can experience a degree of wheezing on a beta-blocker. For asthamtics, they can just about kill.

...that beta 1 blockers can be used for anxiety & they don't constrict the airways. Atenolol is a specific beta 1 blocker.

I have used, and continue to use Inderal LA (60mg)...I have taken it on Nardil, and now on Parnate...and I HAVE asthma...I take singulair for the asthma.
I did use albuterol (ventolin) for many years..I think that that albuterol contributed to my anxiety...anyway, the inderal never caused me to have an asthma attack...I started at a very low dose (10mg)
