Hi.

Desipramine makes me feel sleepy during the first two or three days.

Desipramine + Celexa sounds like a good combination. Both drugs are about the best at what they do. They are very selective for norepinephrine (NE) and serotonin (5-HT) respectively. They are thus complementary; together acting as a dual-action antidepressant. Other drugs that are categorized as such are Effexor, Remeron, Anafranil, and the soon-to-be-released Cymbalta (duloxetine).

If duloxetine does not become available within the next few weeks, I will be trying a combination of desipramine 300mg + Lexapro.

Good luck.

Another advantage of using Celexa with desipramine (as opposed to another SSRI) is that it doesn't inhibit the IID6 liver enzymes like the others, so it will be easier to monitor your desipramine dosage and levels.

I've been taking desipramine (200 mg) for a little over a year now and my pdoc gave me a low dose of ritalin a few months back to help with morning grogginess and general lack of energy. I don't know the chemical significance of any of this, but it's worked pretty well for me.
