First of all I know you are not my doctor, but any ideas and suggestions could help.
1. How does Zyprexa cause diabities, is it just from taking the medicine, or is it the food you eat caused by taking the medicine.
2. Has anyone heard of medical problems caused by long term use of Zyprexa? I take 10mgs.
3. Has anyone used Klonopin as an alternative to Zyprexa to eleviate anxiety problems? Or buspar? Or anything that worked as good.
*yes my gp said my blood presure is high and I could be a risk of getting diabities, naturaly I blame the Zyprexa.
4. My other problem is that Zyprexa helps me do good in school. Strange as it sounds.
Anyways I see my pdoc in 2.5 weeks and want to be prepared, plus I would just appreciate anyone elses input on this stuff other than my 2 doctors who are conflicting with each other.
Thanks in advance
Sebastian

In reply to Zyprexa and Medicines in general - need suggestion, posted by sebastian on February 1, 2003, at 13:17:37
> SebastianI have social anxiety and ADD. I am curious, how does it make you do well in school? Did you have ADD? Have you tried stimulants? How would they compare?
Does Zyprexa make you more talkative, less talkative? I'm socially anxious, so anything that might make me more talkative is attractive to me (I think deep down inside, I love to socialize with people. I feel like a race car driver who was given a Hyanduai at birth, always confused why I felt like driving it so fast when I knew I couldn't)
Anyway, did you say Zyprexa made you feel sleepy? Didn't you try Abilify? My p-doc wants to try different meds. Don't worry about your GP, your p-doc has more experience in dealing with you. GPs like to imagine that these things are all luxuries and aren't necessary.
As far as Klonopin- for the love of God, you should be on it. Me too. But I'm getting curious, maybe the Zyprexa will bring me into remission, help my ADD, or make me more talkative.
I asked my doc if I would start flapping my arms on it, he said that's almost not an issue compared with the older antipsychotics.
Also, I want to try Abilify. It seems to have a cooler name, like Super fly. My doc doesn't seem to have a preference, he was naming them off with equal merit. He'll probably give me whatever one has the most free pens in his office.

I don't know why it helps in school? All I know is that when I came off the Zyprexa my grades went down forgot to hand in assignments and thought school was a big joke. When I was on half the dose I was going from a A average to a C average. I felt better though.
It may help with social anxiety I've been more social taking the Zyprexa than when not.
