Help - trying to stabalize

Posted by linkadge on January 29, 2003, at 17:36:30

I was on Lithium 900mg and Celexa 10mg when
I complained that I couldn't concentrate in school. We reduced the Lithium dose to 600mg which definately helps, but right after I take my Celexa I feel unstable, I feel restless, angry and activated. I am afraid to stop the Celexa straight out cause I do know it helps me get through the day.

My question is. I need to take less antidepressant. How do I do this.
Is 10 mg of prozac less than 10mg Celexa,
(its just that I can't split Celexa any further)

Any help would be apreciated.

Hi, when I was taking Celexa, the max. I could tolerate over time was about 2.5mg/day. I got out a razor and cracked half a 20mg tab into quarters. It didn't work very well, so the dosing was a little uneven. They do make a liquid that would work far better. I haven't tried that route though. Chloe (another poster here), has used this method previously and seemed to be able to control the dosage well with small amts. good luck..

Yes I reccommend the liquid. It's very easy to titrate and accurate too. I lost all tolerance for SSRI's over the years but still need just a drop or two to get by. 1ML=2mg of Celexa. I routinely take between 4 and 6 mg a day otherwise I get weird and side effected. It's not a perfect solution to the problem, but it's better for me than messing with the pill cutters and blades. I'm kind of surprised at this point that all AD's don't have a liquid version for those many of us who can't handle the full dosage.

can I disolve tabs in water

Can I disolve a half tablet in a measured amount of water, then get rid of some of the water,
or does this change the parmokinetics of the drug.

Hi, you are better off seeing if you can get a *sample* bottle from your pdoc. I tried out Paxil this way with a sample bottle of liquid.

I would put the medication into a Baggie. Take out a hammer and smash it down to powder. then add TBSP's of liquid to get my dose,, Altho Cutting seems far easier.

... at Walgreens or something. You can use just about any size pill with it, and it just slices it right in half for you.
