Not at the same time...
I just stopped Effexor XR, and am feeling signs that I'm sinking quickly again. I'm planning to head to the doctor asap, to discuss going back on meds, but I don't really want to go back to Effexor if there's a good alternative. I've heard good about Celexa, and wonder if anyone who had good results with Effexor might have tried Celexa at another time? If so, how did it compare for you?
Thanks.

I've taken Celexa, Zoloft, and Effexor XR, but am on Lexapro right now. I am not a doctor, but in my experience as a patient, if you are considering Celexa, Lexapro is an isomer of it, and so far I've had less side-effects from the Lexapro. I don't know what s/e's, if any, you've had from Effexor XR, but I was completely nauseated (to the point I developed an ulcer) and gained 40 pounds in 6 months, and all things considered (my depression and anxiety were much better, but at what a cost), my doctor switched me over to Lexapro. At first, my anxiety increased, and Lexapro seems to take a while to reach maximum efficacy, but after a couple of weeks, those problems start to go away. With the Celexa, I experienced depersonalization a great deal, and that was the number one s/e that made me go off of it. I feel like the Lexapro treats my anxiety better than the Celexa, too. Anyhow, I hope that any of this was helpful. Good luck in changing your medication -- and keep trying until you find the right one! It makes life so much better.

No practical info but ran these thru a drug checker. Hope it helps. You might consider Lexapro instead of Celexa..less nausea. Just a thought.
Good luck my friend.

I was on Eff. for about 4months at first good results, but then they diminished to the level that I thought whats the point? Later I started taking dexedrine (Diagnosis went from Dep. to ADD which is undoubtably was the reality all along) With the Celxa added in a month later at 20mg(now a month ago). I feel like something is wrong now again. With no benefitial things, I've noticed in the last lost my inner monolouge and thinking makes me feel lost, I can't carry on a conversation if someone put a gun to my head, Ifeel clueless. I want to try to go back on Ex. with the Dex. So we might as well just send each other our left over meds. Kidding. I can't tell if that was funny or not right now. Hope you can make this out, I tried my best to get make it understandable. I'm making my head smoke by just trying to write this, time to taper off the celxa.

I was on celexa a year ago, my first medication. It made me slightly less anxious and way more depressed , I think. Perhaps I was just more depressed because I excepted it to work and felt nothing. I stopped cold turkey and had no side effects, so it probably wasn't working.
I started Effexor XR two weeks ago and it started working the first day; this scared me because I felt like I was on Ectascy. Eventually that went away and now I am just happy and tired. But happy for the first time in years. No I'm scared that eventually I WON'T feel like I am on E anymore
