Cybercafe, the ingredients of any medication should remain active for a couple of days after you break the blister pack. Just make sure that the tablet stays at room temperature. Cutting the pill won't reduce its efficacy.

Yep, you can cut Zyprexa. It's hard to get exact halves, but it doesn't make any difference if they aren't exact.
Many meds will begin to degrade when cut open, so just cut the pill as needed, avoiding cutting a large supply in advance. I've actually stored cut Zyprexa pills for a couple weeks with no problem, but it probably is better to cut just what you need at the time.

We used to have a Pharmacist here named Cam W. I asked this same question of him about a year ago and he wasn't sure of the answer and called the manufacturer rep for me. They said that Zy shouldn't be cut as it loses it's potentcy rather quickly. There was another reason, but frankly it escapes me now. He said you can tell if the unused half is going bad if the center starts to turn a yellowish-brown color.
But if the others are having luck doing it by keeping it sealed, then I'd say to do whatever you feel comfortable with. I would watch for the color change in the tablet though. Buying a pill cutter from your pharmacy should help you get a pretty even cut and I don't think they're too expensive.
Good luck,
Greg

its okay, but you must used the usused portions within a week and keep them stored in an air tight container away from sunlight
wash your hands cuz its an strong eye irritant
cutting does not effect absorption rate, duration of effect, etc etc
i was impressed with lilly's customer service. i wonder if they give better responses to customers who pay $7/pill :)
ahh.. you have to love the business world... where you are dehumanised; seen as a revenue stream and not a crazy freak :)
