Re: Abilify

Does anyone know whether Abilify is available in the UK? I've been taking quite a high dose of Amisulpride for Schizophrenia for about 4 months now - It deals well with my voices but I get quite tired and unmotivated. I was on a much lower dose for a year without it helping with my symptoms at all. Finding the website and taking part like this has been a revelation - I think you are well ahead of us with treatment in the USA - seems like more self-empowerment?
I'd welcome any feedback - Hamish

Hi Hamish.

I take Sulpiride for BP NOS and am also looking to try Abilify.

I contacted NHS Direct who could find no reference to a posited release date. I don't think there is one as yet. However this article:

http://www.pharmj.com/Editorial/20020601/news/atypicals.html

-suggests a release date sometime within the next 6 months. You know the NHS tho'...months could be years.

I'm seeing my psycht. tomorrow and I'll see if he's discovered anything further...he's already on alert.

Personally, I'm too impatient to wait for this p*ss-poor govt to sort the NHS out and so I'll be ordering from abroad. Dr B. will slap my wrists now...

Good luck! (you need it living here)

Jah.

PS. Hi to Shelli, SLS. Too p*ssed off to reply properly now, but if you're reading this Shelli, good luck with yr Abilify trial and pls keep us posted!

Hamish,

Greetings! It has been over a year since I have posted, although I lurk occaisionally.

I am bipolar and have found that Sulpiride (Dogmatil) three x a day plus Amineptine 2x per day (if you can find it)helps to give energy and mental focus. Nothing else in the realm of mood stabilizers has ever worked for me without gnarly side effects or no results at all.

Hope you find the right combo.

Karen
