Xanax in ADDITION to Paxil?

Has anyone had a doctor prescribe both Paxil and Xanax together? If so, what's a good dosage combo for mild depression, and constant anxiety?

BTW, my doctor won't "go" for any Benzo's, she says that some people get addicted to them. But I want to try Xanax, so if I find an alternative doctor (or overseas online ordering) to prescribe them to me, I want to know if I should wean off Paxil first...

Any thoughts?

A benzo and an antidepressant is a very common combination. With luck you'll be able to lower or eliminate your benzo dosage if the AD takes care of your anxiety.

I also think it's time for you to find a new psychiatrist (is your current doctor a psychiatrist?), as any psychiatrist who categorically rules out benzos is a charlatan.

Howdy SandraK !!
I agree with Brit.My Psych has me on Paxil 40mg once a day and Xanax0.5x3.He said the two work together to help my anxiety and panic attacks.He also said the Paxil keeps the Xanax from making you tolerant and having to up your dose. Festus

I also take both of these medications. I don't take the xanax every day, just in the evenings if I can't sleep. The dreams are really wild though.
