Another truehope exclusive...

Posted by judy1 on October 31, 2002, at 11:05:39

ok, the last post they wanted me off benzos first, claiming that once i started the supplements my anxiety/panic symptoms would return with a vengeance. my pdoc called another shrink who specializes in nutritional supplements and med combos- and he said the opposite was true- once the supplements started to help he was able to wean his patients off of meds. So 1 call from my shrink to truehope and my supplements will be here in a week- finally. will let you know.... take care all- judy
p.s. they are under a grant, so that's probably why all the standardization, they will monitor moods and give weekly support calls.

Try a search here, or go to support@truehope.com and hit home. It's a mineral based program in Canada that has had success treating bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders. I'm very treatment-resistant to meds (for bipolar) and my pdoc suggested it. take care, judy

Judy:

Have you tried 2-3 mood stabalizers together, plus antipsychotics (maybe even 2), plus antidepressant, plus benzo? (In various forms..different brands.) One and even two mood stabalizers are just not cutting it...and many docs use two or more, plus other meds, including atypicals, together. Even two-3 antidepressants, and maybe 2 antipsychotics. I've been on various combos, with some great success. Conservative treastment is the reason for most failure. I have done very well on antipsychotic (atypical) plus 2 a.d.'s + 2 mood stabalizers + benzos. In fact..it's amazing, to say the least.

If 'true hope' (and btw..I spent two years taking their vitamin combos they list only to have my symtoms worsen...but it may be different for you...but yes these vitamins are now drugs at their doses...and some with major safety questioned.) doesn't work out...don't stop med wise...there IS a cocktail to keep you balanced.

thank you for taking the time to post, but yes Jay, I have been through every conceivable combo, at times 6-7 meds/day (28 pills) + clinical trials, etc. so this is why my pdoc is suggesting this, i agree at those doses they do act as psychotropic meds and i'll be very closely monitored. i would love to hear what type of side-effects you had, were you being monitored by your shrink, etc. i am giving this a 2 month trial because it's all i have left. i do have a med regime- depakote if i'm getting manic (but i do not stay on a regular dose because i get extremely depressed), zyprexa if i show psychotic symptoms and always on klonopin (and xanax prn) for my panic disorder. i also take an opiate that helps keep my depressions at bay and have intensive therapy. so the plan (per my pdoc) is to stay on the present regime and as I get stable (hopefully), taper off any present medication. i consider this a trial in a never-ending list of trials, and will post as it goes. btw, i did meet a gentlemen with BP1 disorder who has been on truehope for 2 years and is stable for the first time in over a dozen years (and of course i understand this could be a stage in his illness). take care, judy
