Has anyone experienced being on just a little bit of lithium instead of the so called theraputic dose? If so, did it help? I am getting dizzy from this lamictal and gabatril even at low doses. Feels like one of those dog toys who heads bob around.
Before when I took the lowest theraputic dose of lithium ...it was zombieville for me.

(maybe you could add a stimulant or stimulating antidepressant to help with sedation if it's a long term thing?)

I only took 300 mg. of lithium a day for a very long time. It worked very well for me and was very much a sub-therapeutic dose.

If used as an adjunct to antidepressants, 300mg/2xday is often frequent. That's what I take... Bipolar "therapeutic" response is somewhere between 1000-2000mg/day I believe, but not adjunctive.

I tried lithium 10 years ago. No matter what dose I took, BLAH!! It took me years to feel like my old miserable self again, but it's better than the intrusive, restraining, thought controlling feeling that Li gave me. I would'nt give that stuff to my dog!
Could I ask how much lamictal you take? I'm at 50mg and it's starting to give me that flat empty feeling that I hate.

I once stopped taking my daily 900mg for a
few months; nothing really happened except that
I lost a lot of unwanted weight, but gradually
some depression crept in. I did it without
my dr.'s permission and got spooked and so
went back on it again.Presently, I am cutting 1 cap (out of 3 daily
of a total of 900) every 6 days, as an experiment,
because of many symptoms, the worst being
diarrhea (see lithium@yahoogroups.com recent message)'My dr. said i could play with my dosages so i am
trying to find better ground. It's harder now,
because I take Synthroid.Squiggles
