I was on effexor for about 7 weeks and was having terrible side effects. I wouldn't be able to sleep, dizzness, and a lot of other things. My Dr switched my medication over the weekend from the Effexor which I was taking 75mg. a day to Prozac weekly that is 90mg. that I take once a week. My moods have stablized but, the feeling of depression and sucide have returned. It's like I can't get my self to get to class, I just don't have any energy like I did with the effexor. I don't know if adding medications or going back to the effexor would make any of this any better. I had so many problems with the effexor. I now have seizures because of the effexor. I really don't want to start taking that medicine again because of the side affects. Any thoughts???

In reply to Switched from Effexor to Prozac NOT helping!!, posted by atxbelle2000 on October 22, 2002, at 17:00:38
Very bad Idea to go on prozac weeky without
being stabalized on prozac daily first.
I would ask for prozac daily, or switch
to celexa, I am a student as well, and Celexa
is doing very well for me. I am buisy all the
time, tests, exams homework, I have every reason
to be depressed but am not.Linkadge
