Curious if anyone is on these two meds at the same time.
I know that Zoloft & Lamictal have very significant interactions with one another.
Zoloft raises Lamictal blood levels.
But, is the reverse true also---does Lamictal raise Zoloft's blood levels?
I thought I'd heard that Zoloft users can lower their Zoloft doses IF they are also taking Lamictal because of this...anybody know???

I haven't heard that Zoloft raises the level of Lamictal, but I know this is the case if you are on Depakote (2x). This is purely a guess, but a reason you might be able to get by with a lower dose of Zoloft while on Lamictal might be because Lamictal has some SSRI qualities of its own.

I did well on Zoloft and Lamictal...after awhile I dropped the Zoloft and continued to do well for awhile, but have recently considered going back on.

Hey McPhat--
I answered your post awhile back asking how I was doing, but
I think it got archived before you could read it. Hope you are well.
I took lamictal awhile back with prozac...can answer any questions you
have...liked lamictal alot..but couldn't sleep on it and gained 15 pounds, so
went off of it (mainly b/c of the sleep thing) other than that, I really liked
it a lot. How are you doing?

Glad you're feeling better!
I'm just trying to decide between lithium or lamictal. I only used to take a very small lithium dose and, if I do go with the lamictal instead, I will only take a very small dose of that. Either one should do the job. I'm very familiar with lithium. Lamictal, on the other hand, would be new and I'm not as sure about it.
I suppose if it causes problems (irritability, insomnia) then I'll just stay with the lithium, which doesn't cause those problems for me. I wonder if lamictal causes weight gain???
This is the end of the thread.
