Started Amisulpride :) so far so good.

Posted by Jimmy Bean on October 15, 2002, at 2:08:51

Hi everyone,

I just started Amisulpride (Solian) and so far it is very good.
After my first dose I initially had a feeling of well being which was great. I also found that I was more relaxed and calm.
I did, however find it hard to get to sleep at first, but I think that will pass.

All the best,

Jimmy.

Yes, it's still not available in the US but I think it will be soon. It is a dopamine antagonist but it's actually referred to as a dopamine system stabilizer. Amisulpride is used for a whole range of things such as social phobia, depression and psychotic disorders.

Best wishes,

Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,
How do you go about getting a script?
You must have a very progressive p-doc.

Hi Anthony. Well, I live in Australia and it's just become available here.
Hopefully, it'll soon be out in the US for everyone to benefit.

Jimmy.

So am I the only one who's superstitious over antipsychotics?

I just have anxiety...

Glad to hear it is helping you.
BTW, what's the difference between amisulpride and sulpiride? Is the former considered safer?

Hi Kari, Thanks for your kind words :) I think sulpiride has a few interactions with other meds. Also Amisulpride has fewer side effects.

Utopizen, all these meds are different and I was also concerned about them. The last med I was on caused terrible side effects but this one is at the moment relatively side effect free. We'll see anyway.

Kind regards,

Jimmy.

Hi , Does amisulpride cause sexual disfunction?
Amisulpride is now available in Mexico , but Im Afraid of taking it , because nobody has experience with this drug here in Mexico .
Do you think is a safe drug? have you tried other antipsichotic drugs ? can you compare them with the amisulpride ?
Thank you
