Hi,
Its a pity there are some of those on the site , try the pdi site if you have time they generally ban twits like that.
I like your controlled response to the shrink,
Ive had1. "You need counselling"
- within about 10 seconds of meeting2. "This is impossible youre quasi medical"
3. "Do you want me to help you or not"
4." youre a difficult patient- if I tell you something you go away and read about it!"
Plus a load of incorrect information, ah well no ones perfect

are you approaching the doc in a non-hostile way? Are you like, well x is the case, so I want y, or are you like, "what do you think of x, since I heard y might be good?"
I ussually use my doctor to "filter" stuff I read on the web. A lot of it is junk, so I bounce ideas I read off to him, and I trust him to tell me whether it's a good idea or bad idea. After awhile, I can sort of tell he knows how to "filter".
just some thoughts =)

Hello utopizen,
Well you may have a point, in the past I possibly have been rather less subtle than I could have been, I do now however see a fantastic doc who calls his appointments with me - patient directed consultations!- clever man.
I would say however that most docs over here in the uk tend to feel that you are trespassing on their territory if you even make a subtle comment,
the guy who said I was difficult because I read books for example, was commenting literally on what I did,- read up information on my condition,
the "difficult part" was in my view a projection onto me.
However as I said no one is perfect and I dont expect docs to be so, but to discourage taking at least some responsibity or interest in ones own health seems very closed minded to me.Glenn

> GlennBritt,
that's awful how your experience has been! My doc told me to read a book on anxiety in the first visit...

Thankyou for your response, I do however think you have a point, I read my post again and there was a definite hint of hostility towards docs.
When Im feeling good and calm it goes but when Im not I am sure I can be a bit aggressive,I guess thats the cortisol rushing through my brain cells!Nice to have chatted
