Synthroid and IMPOTENCE???

Posted by JonW on October 14, 2002, at 15:52:23

Hi,

Has anyone ever heard of getting impotence from synthroid? I've recently started taking synthroid and decreased my zoloft from 100mg to 50mg. It doesn't seem likely that decreasing the zoloft should cause this. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this?

Jon

Yes, impotence is a side effect of Synthroid (Levothyroxin Sodium) overdose along with menstrual irregularities, insomnia, headache, tremors, nervousness, palpatations, angina, tachycardia, CHF, weight loss, and increased bowel motility.

Thanks for the info. I just started taking it at 0.05mg per day. Can that be an overdose???

Its not likely that 50 mcg of synthroid is too much; it's a very small dose. But, it is important to have blood work done. Different people have widely varying responses to hormone drugs.

Feel better,

Britt

HI-- I've used synthroid The t4 form of thyroid - it helped cognition - I noticed and helped energy somewhat---The impotency issue--I didn't experience that but here's a real nice bit of simple helpful advice. Try ""cytomel"" the t3 form of thyroid - add just a small amount to your normal T4 synthroid dose--- 5-micrograms a couple times a day--------I can honestly say- it was an immediate - Huge improvement-- mood was extremely good - I had a very easy feeling once I added the T3 and tons of ambition-- ANd it was A POTENT sexual stimulant --sexual drive inc. tremendously - And sex was So intense - and orgasms were extremely powerful. It works every time and I've been using it for years -- Adding small amounts of T3 "cytomel" is a very common remedy for synthroid ""rut"" so to speak -- it seems to make just about any antidepressant work much better also - I've used it with ssri's tricyclics - maois - ...........................Check the medical literature this T4 + T3 combo is well studied and recommended if the thyroid med is being used to help depression. Good luck I hope this helps - I've suggested this simple regiment to many , most have reported a significant quick improvement and wonderred why in the world their pdocs never suggested it . :):) I'm betting you'll greatly appreciate the difference from simply adding a couple small doses of cytomel . :):)

Thanks sleepy lizard, BrittPark, dennison! (nm)
