If you go on valium to get off klonopin that how do you get off the valium?

try taking xanax. : )

Seriously, I know everyone's trying to help everyone else here, but when I read people claiming benzo addiction is either no biggie or "should be called something else" (what? denial-of-addiction-tolerance? is scary.

I mean, obviously people are out there who need to take this stuff long-term, and obviously people using this board are often suffering among these people. Fortunately I don't have to use Klonopin. But at least for those of you who have to, know it's something you'll have to deal with unless you're planning on being buried with a lifetime supply of the stuff.

I read one guy on this board who said his dad was going to have to get weaned off it for 7 years. Gosh, doesn't cocaine rehab take 7 days? 7 years!

Utopizen, I am fully aware of the risks involved in taking benzos and other psychotropics. The problem for me is that my quality of life has dropped so far I consider suicide on a daily basis. This has been going on for 6 years and I have tried many "natural" remedies including CBT, acupuncture, hypnosis, meditation, etc., etc. Either I get some relief or I'm outta here. AD's have generally only made my symptoms worse...so what do you suggest?

Klonopin withdrawal is fairly easy

I was on Clonazepam (Klonopin) for 2 years. I started off with .5mg every night and increased gradually to 2mg every night. I quit this drug cold turkey and honestly, it was one of the easier ones to quit. Sure you have withdrawal and feel like absolute garbage for about 2 weeks but if your anxiety disorder/depression is gone at this point, that's it. I just spent those 2 weeks in bed untill the withdrawal passed. Therefore, 2 weeks and you'll start feeling better. I didn't have any serious panic attacks when I quit it (nothing that brought me to the ER anyways), I sure as Hell didn't have any seizures, and I kept a small stash of the Clonazepam close by "just in case" I needed it to help with the withdrawals. I would still recommend weaning off of it so that your life doesn't go on complete pause, but don't be too scared of the withdrawal effects.

It was definitely miles easier than Celexa or Paxil upon which I thought I was dying for about 2 months.

Good! Great! Take the Klonopin.

2 weeks, though, is still 2 weeks. If someone wants to wean off it or go cold turkey or even begin, that's their choice. But I just want them to know that some people take 2 weeks to wean off it.

But for a pill withdrawl, that's still a lot of time... I thought my one week from Vikoden (not abused, just for my wrist for a couple of weeks!) was bad... I personally wouldn't take it if it meant losing 2 weeks or even weaning off my tolerance to it. But then again, all the stuff does for me is make me feel like I have no desire to talk- and what good is being chill at a party if you can't even say anything?

Obviously, it's not a thing to take on a regular basis so it's easier to date, it's intended for more serious conditions such as yours. I think that was exactly my point...
