Open up the XR capsule and remove 5 of the spereoids each day with tweezers, you won't notice the change, that is if your depression is gone.

Hi Linkadge,
Just wondering, did your doctor agree with you on taking a few granules out of your capsules to taper off?
I'm curious to know if it's a good thing to do, or if doc's don't recommend it.
Let me know, thanks.

They asked me to taper, but never
said that way. There is nothing wrong
with it, infact it will make the
tranzition much more smooth.linkadge

I've been doing that - I started two weeks ago. I'm on my second week and have been taking a few more out for this week. I have barely noticed any side effects so far. I'm coming down from 75 mg XR though.

Hello,
I recently got off Effexor XR (150 mg/day) this way, although I got too impatient toward the end and dumped a few too many beadlets at once. Up to that time, everything was fine physically, but at the end, the withdrawal symptom I experienced as a result was dizziness and a bit of the "crunch-crunch" sound in my end--I couldn't remember when I'd had that before, but later realized it was when I'd gotten off Paxil (and I tapered off THAT very slowly).
This is the end of the thread.
