Yeah! Right on! I'm against the overbearing influence and weight the DEA has on influencing doctors' controlled substances prescribing habits as a result of the Controlled Substance Act of 1970, too!

Seriously, good point. But remember the reason the gov't gave money to the survivors of 9-11 victims is that, theoretically, those folks died 'in the act of war.'
But overall, yes, the gov't spends a lot of money in the form of corporate tax breaks, purposeless military spending (how much do they spend on a stapler, again?), and overpaid politicos. If the country (the hoi polloi) pushed for better priorities, we could have a great health care and public ed. system.

I just got done with Amazing Grace (Jonathan Kozol) today... had to read it for my philosophy-theology course.
One of the best writers I've ever read. Don't let the name fool you-- this isn't one of those Tuesday with Morrie books. It offers a keen, realistic insight into the So. Bronx. And it doesn't claim to have any answers, either. I suggest reading it... it's rather short, too. Beautifully written.

I'd like discussion about the government to be redirected to Psycho-Social-Babble, thanks.
Bob
PS: And follow-ups regarding posting policies to be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration...
This is the end of the thread.
