Hi,
Has anyone found a solution to constipation because of taking these antidepressants drugs?

One large navel orange a day ! And lots of water. Plus exercise (walk after a meal for example).
Also, some people use Metamucil, but I don't - the above does it for me.

Flax seeds really work for me. You can buy them in bulk and grind them up in a coffee grinder, and then spinkle one to two teaspoons on your cereal per day. They actually taste good.

I would agree to the above and add that you can also get the benefits of the flaxseed in oil or capsule form or try the fish route. Both provide have to known to provide both anti-depressant effects and a laxative effect.
Also limit intake of rice, bananas and maybe tea. Bananas, esp. really bind sometimes.

Re: Psych meds and constipationI'm on a combo of 15 mg. Remeron and 150 mg wellbutrin and both are constipating. I figured I had a head start with knowing about constipation because I am a dietitian, but I've been having a bit of a hard time. I have to use a combination of tactics - a tablespoon of flax seeds (I use them whole for constipation and ground if I want the omega 3 fatty acids), 8 glasses of water, and 12 small prunes. Prunes have an osmotoic laxative that increases the water in your intestine. Titrate up slowly with the prunes, as they can give you pretty bad gas. It's good as well to increase your fibre - ie. oat bran, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, whole grains breads etc. Probiotics really help as well, as does daily small tub of yogurt. Hope these ideas get things moving.
