Long time Zyprexa use

Posted by sebastian on September 9, 2002, at 0:40:28

I've been taking Zyprexa for almost 4 years now. Finaly starting to come down off it. Anyone else takin it?

Massive weight gain, feeling of losing reality on the drug. But it got me out of periods of not leaving my room for months on end every year.

I've taken it, but never for the length of time you have. I'm glad you have overcome your agoraphobia?, it must have taken a lot of work on your part. I hope you are tapering slowly, my pdoc told me he had several patients who had difficulty getting off after an extended period. Best of luck- judy

I used zyprexa for three four months from 5mg weaned off to o Now I am taking only 75 mg of zoloft for something like borderline personality or depression.
Zyprexa causes weight gain but I lost much due to depression so it was gd sent for me. I stoopped because I was afraid of EPS.
I hope I willl be working on zoloft well for the long time.

It was great to come off the Zyprexa. I felt alive again. It was scary and hard, especialy when my doctor told me to look for signs of losing it. No I'm not from Poland. Canada. I take 40mg of Celexa now. Celexa makes it easyer, other wise I'd probably flip-out. He had to raise the Celexa as he took me off the Zyprexa, I was feeling anxious.

My elderly counsin, who is 86, has Alzheimers and in a Home Care Center. She has been on Zyprexa for 2 months. She was doing fairly well, but lately she is more depressed and more confused. they just increased her dose. I hope it helps her. She would have been so agitated if she was not on this med. I think she will have to stay on it......anybody okay on this med a long time?

I'm fine with it. I'm 26 now have taken it for what is probably 4 years and my doc just took me off it today. The medicine does take a while to get use to but when you do it has a poisitive effect. You will feel different on it. It may help to use an anti-depressant with the Zyprexa. I felt alot better using the mix. Celexa is what I take.
