Dexedrine (immediate release, anyhow), should be less likely than Adderall to cause insomnia because of its shorter half-life. I could take Adderall once in the morning or midday and sleep ok later. Dexedrine (IR), I could take within four to six hours of bedtime and get to sleep ok. Focalin (and prob. Ritalin), I could take *two* hours before bedtime and have no trouble getting to sleep. Never tried dexedrine spansules. Some people find stims to help them sleep.
