I'm can't sleep at night - may only a couple of hours then very fitful. I'm on 30mg of parnate. I asked my pdoc if I could try trazadone to help with sleep. He said that he didn't feel good about combining traz with an MAOI. Has anyone had experience with this combonation?

"Doesn't feel good about the combination" is an excessivly polite way of telling you that the combination can kill you. Parnate and Trazodone is a BIG no no. I don't remember the source off hand, but it should be easy to find if you google Parnate.
Benedryl works the best of anything I tried; Benzos and Ambien are good if you don't already have benzo tolerance. I had to use Valium and Benedryl together for a while. It does get better though. Take the dose up slowly- Parnate metabolises into amphetamine and methamphetamine and it's a lot to adjust to. The first eight weeks can be really rough. Then it's the best psych drug that ever was.
Good luckMiss Liz

> VinceAbsolutely! I've been taking it for months. There was no hesitation on my pdocs side. I tried Klonopin first, but I'd taken Trazodone in the past and preferred it for sleep. And I took up to 100mg of Parnate! I've tapered back down to 60mg now and I take 25mg of Trazodone. But I've taken more Trazodone with no problems at all.

Actually, a lot of the "hard & fast" rules of what anti's not to mix with MAOIs are falling by the wayside. It's very important to be monitored by a doctor, but there have been a lot of success stories with augmenting Parnate with various other types of drugs that were previously thought to be taboo.
