I gave it a month but it didn't work.
Remeron was excellent for sleep and
concentration, it also reversed the apathy
from Celexa, Problem is that it raised
my systolic a good 15 points consistantly.
Even at 15 mg it raised my B.P. It doesn't
have as powerful a seritonin effect,
my core mood was low. They need to discover
a med that affects Norepinephrine in a much
lower proportion than seritonin, cause the
more I raised Remeron, the more activated I
got, not happier. I am back on Celexa now
Not sleeping as well, but definately happier

um, I have ADD, am am currently trying out Wellbutrin as adjunct to my ritalin or adderall (I have both depending on my "mood")
by "improving concentration", do you mean like "I could probably listen through greenspan lecture me on why he lowered interest rates in 1998" for three hours improving concentration?
thanks

If the Celexa isn't strong enough for you, you might try Effexor XR. It has worked for me and increases serotonin more than the NE. I only took Celexa for a month and it wasn't doing much.

To answer the previous posts.
I don't have ADD so I am not sure.
My depression was never accompanied
by low energy, drive or stamina, infact
it was almost the opposite. I am not
manic, but my mind is persistantly
plagued by an extremely sad mood.
Everthing is just so inexplicably sad.All I could think about was death and
dying, and my mind would be consistantly
troubbled with horrible thoughts and
nightmares. I had horrible anxiety.Celexa has been the best for my core mood
in that I am no longer sad. However it makes
me very layed back and somewhat unmotivated.I tried effexor, and like has been said
before, for me it was not very good.
Why? If made me very energetic and goal
driven, but it did not lift my core sad mood.My drive is what caused the anxiety.
My drive to attain more would never
let me rest or stop working to enjoy life.
Now I can say, I don't need that to feel
good about myself. When I was suicidal
it wasn't because I thought people hated
me or that I didn't think I was worthy,
it was just my mind wouldn't let me rest.
If your coure mood is pretty good, then
I would say Remeron at 30 mg is Very
good for concentration. It enhances
spatial function, things really look
3D and stand out. It enhances co-ordination.
and generally makes things seem simpler to do.
It takes the full month for this effect to
be pronounced.Unfortunately it raised my Blood pressure
(supposedly rare) and did not lift my
core mood.So I am back on the Celexa.

Hi,
This may not relate to your questions only I have just finished three months on celexa and it is starting to work, went from 10 to 20 to 40 to 60, now back to 40 as the 60 was making me too sleepy. Also, I take a mood stabilizer, Risperdal and it helps. I was also suicidal and could not rest. I am fairly placid now which I do not like but will try to work with it.
MAYBE increase my exercise to get the blood going again. The big question is MAYBE: By the time I answere that then I give up and read a book or watch tv or putter in garden. Guess we can not have the best of both worlds.

Interesting that Remeron would raise your blood pressure and Effexor wouldn't, when the latter is the med known to have this potential. Guess everyone's different.
Celexa lowered my BP, while Serzone lowered it even more. Both also lowered my heart rate, though more so with Celexa. Both also lowered my glucose, although it took longer for Serzone to have this effect.

I found that Paxil got me out of the sadness the best of Paxil, Celexa, Effexor. It also spaced me out too much.

Both Remeron and Effexor raised my BP and
heart rate quite considerably. Part of my
depression is accociated with hypochondria.
Ie. I will think I will soon die of an impending
heart attack. For me to improve best I need
to know that the medication won't interfere
with any of my vital signs. Celexa keeps my blood
pressure down, which I like.I wish it didn't happen but.
