I have been taking 20 mgs. of Celexa for 8 months and I am going to start weaning off of it. What are the side effects and/or things I should watch out for?

I have to ask this cause it's important. Are you doing this with your doc's guidance and approval?

When I weaned off of Celexa, about 3 days after each drug reduction, I had a difficult 2 days of depression. So if you cut you dosage down on a Wednesday, then you will have Saturday and Sunday to lay in bed with the pillow over your head, not eating, or getting up. It works pretty good, or it did for me.

If would suggest going down 5 mg per week.
Split the tab in half and then use a razor
to split the half. I went from 20 mg to 10 mg
this way. I find 10 mg still very potent, and
it puts the side effects under controll. You may experience symptoms like the return
of your depression. The first day you will
get some generalized anxiety, which does subside
in a few days. In any case stay a full week on
any reduced dose to make a assesment.
