Hey folks:
I wonder if any can help me. For the past six or so years, I have noticed that I sometimes develop a tremor in my arm. It seems to have gotten a 'tad' worse. At the dentist on Friday, sitting in the chair with wy arm just extended a bit (and this is uaually when it happens..when the arm is flexed even just a tiny bit), and my arm and hand started shaking, quite physically too.
Now, I know I will likely have to go to a neurologist to determine this. I am sure it is not med induced, because I had it when I wasn't taking meds, but it has just gotten a bit worse.
If I do have it, would it be possible my depression is linked to it? Reason I am asking is before I went on meds, I had a very driving, passionate personality. Within a period of 6 months to a year, before meds, is when the depression really hit. Now on meds, (touch wood), I seem to be coming back to a bit of the older self. BTW..I am 32.
Any comments appreciated...
Thanx,
Jay

I think Parkinson's usually has tremors in more the fine motor/fine coordination muscles. Like more in the hands, getting worse as you try harder to keep it still? I'm not completely sure on that.
First step might be to ask your regular general practitioner.
I certainly have a few positions of my legs where it seems like they just do not want to be in that particular position: like half way to a deep knee bend I can just watch the muscle tremble like it can't make up its mind whether it wants to support me or not. Seems like it's just a weak spot as far as the physics of muscle support goes. As soon as I pass through that 'zone' no more trembling. Not sure if that's similar to your arm or not. I've never asked about it, always assumed it was just one of those human unique features.
Hope it doesn't cause you any discomfort.

I would not jump to Parkinson's just because
of a tremor. Get it checked out.

It's something to consider, but I've heard of Parkinson's first being noticeable in 'small' muscles, like the finger or facial muscles. Also, trembling or trouble moving a limb is more persistent than occasional.
I have some similar, involuntary movements (face muscle, occasional involuntary eye movement, leg movement) that I attribute to t.d. from long-term ssri use. Could that be what you're experienceing?
