I know that Nardil often produces anorgasmia, which sometimes mitigates over the course of several months.
Can Nardil also reduce sex-drive (libido)?
If so, does it improve over time?
Thanks.

Hi Scott,
Nardil increased my sex drive but gave me anorgasmia -- very frustrating :) I was only on it for 8 weeks so maybe it would have improved, but I had many other side-effects that were intolerable. It did appear to be starting to work for my depression, though. I'm going back to moclobemide and going to give it a full trial as I can tolerate it.

I loved Nardil, did all around well on it for years, and my god was sex great! It may be different for girls, but I found I was more adventurous, and definately very orgasmic. I think that the Nardil was the first thing that actually broke the depression and that's why sex suddenly became an entiely different thing. The whole social phobia thing, which I had badly, also went away and I think that lessening of inhibition helped.
Nardil acts so globally that I don't think sex will be an individual issue. Either it works or it doesn't, and it's so unlike the SSRI's I wouldn't even compare the two.I was completely sexless during the years I spent on SSRIs and it was a giant releif to be normal again.Miss Liz

> Miss LizMiss Liz, How long ago were you on Nardil? Did it cause weight gain?
I'm suprized that Nardil increased your sex function because everyone else here says that
it's had just the opposite effect. That's odd because I used it for a short time back in the late 70's, but I can't remember it affecting me sexually one way or another. The first medication that I remember causing me sexual dysfunction was prozac, and that was in the early 80's. Up until then I didn't know there was such a thing.

Hi Jon,
What side effects did you have with Nardil?

> What side effects did you have with Nardil?Obviously, sexual dysfunction. But I also had myoclonic jerks, dry mouth, urinary incontinence, tremors, I saw spots, and would get weird sensations every so often where I'd hear things. The worst was the drymouth -- I never had it so bad. Some people can tolerate this drug and wait out the side-effects but it just wasn't worth it to me. It was somewhat effective at 8 weeks so I wish the side-effects were less of a problem, but as it is I'm glad I stopped it. I hope to have good results with moclobemide + geodon <-- fingers crossed! :)
