Scrapping my lithium reduction scheme;
had a rotten sleepless night and felt
worse than taking the normal dose;Basically, i am trying to find out why
I have peripheral neuropathy, gastro stuff,
diarrhea, the tongue whiteness or glossitis,
etc.It could be many things but i recall it started
with something that felt like meningitis.Hmm, ok - anyone heard of L-tryptophan - i looked
it up it is an amino acid; i don't eat health
foods; wondering if it could be found in something
else like Maple Syrup or Canola Oil for example.tx

Turkey is a very good source of L-tryptophan.

I am in a bad slump. But you post screams Yeast to me! Candidiasis, or candida albicans, a single celled fungus that is supposed to be in our genital and GI tract. But if the immune system is supressed, or many other reasons, the fungus can proliferate causing a lot of your symptons, like
diiarrhea, abdominal pain , headaches, bad breath, sore throat, DEPRESSION!, numbness of the face or extremeties, canker sores, nagging cough, tingling sensations, acne, night sweats, PMS, white spots on tongue...the list goes on from my book: Prescriptions for nutritional healing by Balch and Balch.I know I have some links somewhere, but unable to find them now. Try a search (www.google.com is a good place to start) on candida fungus infactions or just yeast infections...I might be completely off, just thought I would mention my suspicion thougoh.
BTW, when I started BC Pills, I was getting vaginal yeast infections chronically. So I started taking probiotics, or acidophilus capsules and I haven't had anther yeast infections :) I still take it. Keeps the good flora in the gut, keeps yeast from thriving, and prevents diarrhea and constipation.
Hope you feel better
Chloe

hi Squigggles...
L-tryptophan is an amino acid that used to be
sold in Canada (no longer is), but I believe
can still be purchased in the U.S.I tried it years ago and found it EXTREMELY
effective as a sleep-aid, actually it was TOO
effective - after taking 2 capsules (was also
taking Anafranil at the time) I went into an
incredibly deep sleep, so deep that I did not
hear neighbours knocking on my door the next
morning. They were concerned for me and got
the door open enough (the chain was on)
to call out to me. I finally woke up in a
daze, hearing voices in the distance calling
me (it was them). So, if you are interested in L-tryptophan,
I'd suggest a talk to your pdoc about how it
would mix with the rest of your meds. I can tell you that I found the experience I had with it rather scary.

No Compucat,
I am not definitely not interested in
taking L-tryptophan (stuff sounds like
poison) - i am just trying to find out
why i have all these weired gastro, mucous,
yucky symptoms for the past few yrs; and
i think that Chloe's got it - i think it
is candidiasis.Heavens, what an experience! I read about the
stuff on the net and it's scare esp. contaminated
L-tryptophan.thanks
