WEIRD Nardil Side-Effect?

Posted by JonW on June 26, 2002, at 8:54:00

Hi,

I'm not sure what medicine is causing this side-effect, but since I increased my nardil to 60mg I'm experiencing it. Here's what I take:

Nardil 60mg
Depakote 1000mg
Risperdal 1mg
Neurontin 3600mg
Ambien (10mg at night as needed)

Anyway, I get this sensation of for a brief second not being in the present and then all of a sudden in the present. Like I jumped forward a few frames of life and I skipped over both the video and the audio but yet I couldn't tell you that I see or hear anything, it's just a sense. It's like in a movie when someone is walking around an apartment or something and it's really silent and then all of a sudden there is a very brief flashback that brings the audio up and then it's right back to the silent present in the apartment. I can't say that's what it's like but the sensation is similar.

Anyone ever experience anything similar to this?

Thanks,
Jon

Jon, I had similar experiences with Nardil and both Ambien and Sonata, along with visual hallucinations, sleep-walking, and sleep-eating. I now take Trazadone instead of Ambien. I've also had "absence seizures" which were similar to what you described. I was unable to tolerate Depakote (for seizures) when added to all my other medications, it severely aggrevated my depression and gave me terrible headaches (not due to blood pressure).
