Hello, My doctor just placed me on concerta and after taking it today all I have done is sleep. Has anyone else had this problem? Please let me know what you think.

Have you been on ritalin before? Or are you starting with concerta? Have you tried other stimulants?
There are a few possibilities: One, that you are suddenly so relaxed your sleep deprivation has kicked in and so in a couple days you will be much more awake. Two, that you are taking too high a dose. Or Three, that concerta is just too calming (many find ritalin/concerta the most calming/dulling of the ADD meds and end up preferring dexedrine or adderall).
So you can try waiting a day or two doing the same dose, to see if you feel more awake, next decrease the dose if necessary, after that change to another stimulant.
If you are looking for an energizing effect stimulants might not be for you -- try wellbutrin, provigil, desipramine.

Katekite, thanks for your response. No I have never been on anything befor for add, but I really feel like crap on this stuff. I have been on antidepressants but nothing made me feel this bad and tired.

You might just need way way less.
Or you could be experiencing side effects of increased blood pressure or heart rate that would contribute to feeling yucky. That would be less at a smaller dose.
Maybe skip a day to recover and then start over at the lowest possible dose to see if it helps at all. If you are already at the lowest dose, another stimulant might be better. Response to each kind is very individual so don't give up on them just yet.
The feeling you are looking for is calm, collected, in control. Some people get energy from them but not me. Most people with ADD don't report feeling more energy, just their regular energy is chanelled more productively.good luck

I started Concerta about two weeks ago for ADD, after being on Adderall for approx 6 years. I liked the Adderall just fine, the problem was that I developed a tolerance to it and had to stop it. But now that you mention the tired feeling, I think that I do feel more tired on it--well at least I have been sleeping more.
