Does anyone use Prozac or Celexa for OCD/GAD?

Posted by rainbowlight on May 19, 2002, at 19:40:11

I can no longer tolerate the physical effects from the Zoloft (nauseau, pressure in head). Have any of you used Prozac or Celexa for OCD or GAD? I am running out of options, any ideas?

I have taken Prozac for OCD and found it extremely effective. The only side effects I suffered were sexual (no nausea or pressure). So if you can tolerate sexual dysfunction, it might be worth giving Prozac a go...

I take Prozac for my OCD and Major Depression -- it is working quite well. I also take Ativan 2x per day and sometimes at night, and then I take 50 mg. Trazadone. I get plenty of sleep and this combo is definitely working for me. There may be some nausea with Prozac but it doesn't last long at all. SarahMarie

I think I just responded to your question in the other OCD thread. You said you douns paxil and luvox too sedating, right? Well, Prozac s supposed to be more activating, like Zoloft (but of course, not for everybody, as we all know).
ANYWAY I have been on Prozac for almost 1 1/2 years now for OCD, and it has done WONDERS.

I take Celexa but not for GAD. But I do find my anxiety is much worse when I am depressed & the Celexa does make a big difference with depression, so it also helped my anxiety. Whether it would help GAD alone, I can't say.
