Anyone on Celexa w / Risperdal Combo?

Posted by oona on May 18, 2002, at 9:44:51

I just started Celexa 10 mg for 2 weeks and now going up to 20 mg. The Risperadol is one .25 a day (in the evening).
Had been on Zoloft for 7 years, then Wellbutrim shortly but had to stop because of side effects.

Just been diagnosed with BiPolar but think that is only the Diagnosis cuz the pdocs can put that into the insurance company to get more visits approved. I will go along with it for now but still a little not trusting the whole medical system.

My questions are: Has anyone had good or bad luck with these two together or is it the luck of the draw?

Hi Oona,

I have never taken that combo, but I have a good friend who has been on that combo for a good three years and she has been totally stable on it. Her diagnosis is uncertain...they thought bipolar, then they thought not. But at any rate, she's going great.

I was on 4mg of risperdal and 40mg celexa for 3 months. The celexa was a far too mild mood lifter but had no side effects and i stopped without tapering the dose, no problem. I found celexa a complete waste of time. The risperdal was useful but the side effects too uncomfortable to continue treatment. Switched to Zyprexa.

I was previously on Celexa 40mg with 3mg Risperdal once a day. I found the combo helpful at first because I was severly depressed. But as time went on I started getting very awkward side-effects from the risperdal. After 7 months of this combo I gave up risperdal cold turkey with no effects but am still on the 40mg Celexa. I feel less drugged and clearer thoughts now. I recomend this combo for "getting over the hump" but thats about it.
