Hi, I am 21 years old and am thinking about taking Zoloft to decrease my depression and increase my motivation. I have always blamed my depression on my surroundings. But I am now in the best place I can be and I still feel like shit. If anyone has any advice or information, especially about how their motivation and energy has been affected, please reply. I don't even know if Zoloft is the best one for me, it just seems that way so far from what I have read. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Preston,
What are your symptoms exactly? If you just need energy and motivation, something like Provigil might be worth a try. Unfortunately, zoloft (and other SSRIs) can sometimes cause *lack* of motivation and zest for life. However, that may not matter compared to the boost you get from treating your depression successfully. Best of luck to you!

Nobody knows what drug is right for you until you try them, unfotunately.
My first post on this board was asking about Paxil and apathy. It was a known side effect but is really widely known now as an SSRI problem.
Get a good pdoc and they will find what works for you.Good luck
