I'm curious, does anyone else besides myself take an antipsychotic for a non-psychotic condition? I've been taking 125mg of Seroquel for sleep every night, and 25mg in the morning for anxiety; no doubt the nightly dose positively affects the anxiety too. Further, would anyone know whether the atypical, new-generation antipsychotic drugs are generally safe? I've heard mixed reviews in this forum, so naturally I'm a little skeptical. Thus far the only adverse event I've observed is occassional twitching at random periods shortly after taking the bedtime dose. Also, sometimes I *really* oversleep.

I have been taking a low-dose of Risperdal (2mg) for several years now. I find it helpful with mood lability and anxiety. It was originally prescribed at a hospital I was in. At the hospital, the psych nurses had great faith in a low dose of Risperdal or Seroquel. They seemed to think they were revolutionizing care.
As for safety, who knows yet? The low doses should help minimize risks but there still may be risks.
