Common knowledge says that this med has to be increased slowly to avoid an alergic reaction. But HOW slowly? A 25 mg increase dose a week could take 3 months to get to a 300 mg dose. What are you supposed to do in meantime while you wait to see if the drug even works? Especially if this is a choice of last recourse? I already have augmented with topomax and neuronton. I am at a loss on this one.

Agreed. If this wasn't an issue with Lamictal, it would be an absolute drug of choice. I've gone up 50/wk in reasonably sized folks not on concurrent VPA, but no faster.

It's not just the possibility of the rash. . .I felt *wretched* from going up too fast. . too fast for me, anyway. Fine after I backed off and increased more slowly. Terrific med.
