in addition to pdoc, i'm also going to a naturopathic physician who has put me on quite a variety of vitamin pills - i've been taking the meds about 1/2 hour after the vitamins, although the naturopath says it is okay to take the vitamins with my meds.
however, since his background is not in meds and the pdoc's background is not in vitamins i thought would throw this query on here - is it safe to take meds and vitamins together (at the same time)?

Bluejay, there's no problems with taking meds & vitamins together. The few meds that require special conditions are explained when you buy them at a pharmacy. Meds like tetracycline (an antibiotic) & calcium don't go together, & folic acid & some anti-cancer meds are a couple of examples, but most are perfectly fine to take together.
I know of no psychotropic meds that can't be taken at the same time as vitamins and/or minerals. If you wish to be extra careful, check out your meds at http://rxlist.com/ & read if any precautions apply to them. You'll find any warnings listed under 'Warnings & Precautions' menu under the specific drug you look up.

Always check, because the distinction between what we call "meds" and "vitamins" is pretty arbitrary....
