Clonidine as an antidepressant?

Does it have any clinical effect on depressed people besides getting rid of anxiety? Thanks friends...

TSA:
Clonidine is indicated for treatment of high blood pressure. Virtually all the literature I've seen indicates that clonidine worsens depressive symptoms. It is sometimes used to treat ADD/ADHD, conduct disorder, and chronic anger. Not very helpful for depression, though.

I dont believe clonidine has any antidepressant qualities to it whatsoever. I was on clonidine for a few days when I was in the hospital and all it did was knock me out, make me super drowsy and make me wanna sleep all the time. Hardly any antidepressant.

Clonidine is supposed to have some uses for agitation or Attention Deficit Disorder type problems. Im skeptical it has ANY uses whatsoever in treating any kind of mental illness.

In my experience, Clonidine does not act as an antidepressant. It makes me more depressed and lethargic.
