There certainly is no contraindication. The nicotine being a stimulant, might negate some of the positive benefits of Klonopin. Make sure you take the pill between puffs. Only kidding!!! If you are smoking up to a pack a day or more, that certainly might increase your anxiety.

Not sure on klonopin but smoking does increase the metabolism of zanax so it may lightly weaken benzos but woudnt worry. Actually, I probably would :) joke

My experience is that smoking only seems to negate the theraputic effects of Klono for like 5-10 mins. after I smoke. Smoke about 1/2 pack a day. Really no probs.....besides the fact of course its ridiculously expensive, it stinks, and its bad for you-but thats besides the point...;)

Hi,
I smoke with lots of drugs. Never had any problem including the Ativan which I'm currently taking.
Note: My anxiety book says that stimulants such as nicotine and caffeine will increase anxiety.

Hello,I too smoke Marlboro Lights. I take Xanax, but only a small sleeping dose at night. You are both correct. The stimulants, such as nicotine, or caffeine, or Adderal etc... will all decrease the effectiveness of the Klonopin a bit. But, this is a very powerful antianxiety medication, as is Xanax. In my experience, I actully find that mixing a stimulant like nicotine with the benzo. after you take it will make you feel great! Nothing will overpower either Xanax or Klonopin. They are too effective. Especially at only a half pack a day. That is what I smoke too. You should have nothing to worry about.
