There are certain precocious teenagers posting here who inappropriately believe they are qualified to EMPHATICALLY give medication advice with an air of seasoned authority and a black-or-white attitude, while virtually lacking personal experience. [i.e. having briefly tried just one AD, one p-stim and currently enjoying (duh) his first anxiolytic - a benzo]
Reading about meds and their mechanisms online in the spirit of researching a course of action or making informed decisions *for oneself* may be helpful, even advisable; but I think many people here agree that although a given drug may look good (or bad) on paper, this does not always reflect it's efficacy (or lack thereof) for everyone (or even anyone!). It is unforgivably presumptuous to be PUSHING the use of particular drug or offhandedly dismissing others -e.g. certain classes of ADs- esp. while COMPLETELY lacking experience with either one!! Unfortunately personal experience isn't the final word either; results being so subjective and variable - but in ANY case it is at best irresponsible and at worst dangerous to so recklessly 'advise' people, particularly people new to this board, in this audacious manner.

BTW, I'm not feeling like getting all drugged up on the stuff. I'm just saying my anxiety is gone and that that in itself has improved my mood as it would anyone I would think.....
I am not abusing it. Never will. Never thought about it. I am trying to be responsible and only seek to get well and get through school and live a successful life :) God Bless -Jason911

Jason,I really hope this medicine works for you, if it does then you
have found a gold mine: for your body. But please remember that you are 1 data
point. Regardless of the outcome (and yes, it may not work out
for you but may work for others, paradoxically), it still does not
necessarily generalize to the patient population. This is a key fact to
remember. You cannot use your sole experience and assume that everyone
else will get the same sort of response. I did horrible on Paxil and think
to myself that it is the most evil medicine on earth, but I am one data point,
and this is what happens with medicines. I know a lot of people who do wonderfully
on Paxil. Plus the medicine has been well studied in clinical settings and proven
to be an effective anti-depressant, so it is my opinion that it would be utterly
irresponsible for me to bad mouth paxil despite my own problems.-John

Why does it matter how old they are? I was a teenager when I first started posting (and I also had tried every SSRI save for Luvox, a few tricyclics, most of the newer non-SSRIs, Nardil, several anxiolytics, and Lamictal). Although I agree with the central point of your post, I fail to see why someones age and/or experience should matter.-christophre

Jason, although i find myself becoming intimidated by your detailed intelligence about the various intricate properties of certain medicines, you're not precocious by far, rather on the contrary i find your intellect very impressive and stimulating. Personally, i myself have read some of your postings and you are very knowledgeable about the chemical workings of certain medicines in the brain. And though it is true that "one man's medicine may be another man's poison", still i say to you Jason- Carry on, and more good postings to you. My hats off to you, keep up the good research, you're enlightening and refreshing.

Thank you. People just tend to want to deny the facts that are out there and I am just trying to spread the word. But my ideas will not work for everybody by any means...I just can usually tell who would benefit and who would not. Thank you again. God bless -Jason911

Your points are very valid Jason, but you just come across as very angry, and your posts tend to be a bit confrontational.
Maybe if you calmed your posts down a bit, everyone would take your points more seriously.
