Buspar had me in bed for 3 days... I had no energy and was extremely weak.. it was scary. And i only took 1/4th of the damn pill! I can imagine if i took the whole thing. Well i am very sensitive to all meds... i would die if I took SSRI's..so it might not have the same reaction on you.

Ask your doctor if they are willing to live with the medical consequences of taking you off a medication that has been proven to work for you. The implication is that they are doing harm and could be sued if you suffer severe consequences because of such uniformed advice.

If they don't answer and ask any questions, run, don't walk to a doctor for a second opinion - preferably one that will listen to what you tell them makes you feel better - a specialist that treats the anxiety disorders that hasn't a problem prescribing benzodiazapines. There are plenty out there. Ask them up front.

Taking someone off of a medication that is successfully treating a patient is the height of iresponsibility - especially if it for unfounded or "reasons of probability" that there may be a better drug out there. That's playing with people's lives like guniea pigs. You are the boss and your doctor is your employeee. As soon as you realise this, you won't become a victim of poor health care.....

No, of course it doesn't work like Ativan. They are entirely different meds. . Buspar is the only anti-anxiety drug I'm aware of that isn't a benzo, and docs like to feel better about anything that's "not addictive." No matter the effect on you.
Buspar often doesn't work on anxiety the same way, you cannot take it situationally, and altogether. . you need a different doctor or to get a firm grip on the one you have. I die without Ativan too. That's like of some small importance. Duh.
