Notes on one missed Effexor dose

Posted by Noa on January 28, 2002, at 17:56:00

I missed my effexor dose yesterday--forgot to take it, then remembered when it was inoportune, then when it was feasible to take it, it was so late in the day, I decided not to, to just wait until this morning.

WELL, that is the last time I am doing that!

I was fine all day and evening. I took my serzone and small dose of ativan as scheduled in the evening. Got into bed at a decent hour. Tossed and turned for 2 hours, unable to fall asleep. Finally fell asleep but slept very fitfully all night, with extremely vivid dreams during which I was frequently aware of dreaming, and/or totally confused as to whether I was awake or dreaming, and felt groggy.

Dreamt I decided to just get up and take the damn effexor because of how awful I felt. Well, either dreamt it or did it, I wasn't sure. I woke up with the dream-like memory and couldn't tell if I had actually gotten up and taken the effexor or just dreamt it. It was only when I turned on the hall light and realized that in my memory the hall light had been broken, that I realized it was a dream.

Had more fitful dreams about sleeping and dreaming and waking up and sleepwalking, etc. Felt groggy and a bit dizzy through it all.

In the morning, went back to sleep for a few extra hours so I could function at all today.

Feel better today, although still a bit "derealized". Even now as I type, I'm having a bit of that derealization feeling. I think it is called derealization (I always get those terms mixed up--derealization, depersonalization, dissociation).

So, I figured out that for me, the effexor xr has no more than about 36 hours life in my system.

Wow, sounds like you really had a bad night. Thanks for
the info, I'll make sure to never forget taking my dose.

Good Luck,
